鳥追い - torioi
The word means that young farmers, including children, parade in the streets in their neighborhoods while they sing to scare the birds and animals that damage the crops on their farms. They also tap on the ground with sticks while they sing. This event used to take place on the early morning of the fifteenth day of the first month according to the lunar calendar, but it now takes place on January 15th.
農家の子供や若者が、棒で地面をたたきながら、田畑に害を与える鳥獣を追い払う歌を歌って家々をまわる行事。1月15日の早朝に行われる。
