鳥追い【torioi】

The word means that young farmers, including children, parade in the streets in their neighborhoods while they sing to scare the birds and animals that damage the crops on their farms. They also tap on the ground with sticks while they sing. This event used to take place on the early morning of the fifteenth day of the first month according to the lunar calendar, but it now takes place on January 15th.
